The Moffatt brothers melt hearts with their stripped back dual vocal version of “Take Me Home, Country Roads” that has fans smashing replay

When identical twins Bob and Clint Moffatt sang an acoustic duet on “Take Me Home, Country Roads,” viewers couldn’t get enough of the calming, nostalgic vibes. The talented brothers cleverly figured out that John Denver’s hit was just begging to be turned into a two-guitar, two-voice arrangement, and they were just the men to do it, scoring a viral 44 million view cover. The boys showed off smoky low-register vocals in the opening verse, creating a deliciously chilled groove from the get-go.

The Moffatts then lifted to a honeyed harmony in the chorus, while keeping up some tasty acoustic licks throughout. The combination of the brothers’ impeccable musical instincts and them filming the clip literally on a country backroad was a smart combo that gave the whole performance a charmingly rustic vibe. The Moffatts have created such a beautiful duet style, and The Music Man could definitely listen to these boys sing all day!

The brothers uploaded their “Take Me Home, Country Roads” cover to their YouTube channel Music Travel Love, where it became one of their most popular clips. Viewers gave some big props to the lads, adding comments such as “Such a beautiful rendition of an iconic song. I lived in West Virginia for 10 years, and every time I listen to this song I miss it” and “Born in a new generation but madly in love with this kind of music.”

The Moffatts have dropped a ton of killer covers on the Music Travel Love channel. One of The Music Man’s fav performances on the channel is The Moffatts’ cover of John Lennon’s solo masterpiece “Imagine”. This cover features the signature harmonies and acoustic licks from the brothers, but also ropes in a total of eight additional musicians to sing and perform on the song. The musicians come from all around the world, which is a brilliant way of emphasizing the profound lyrics of Lennon’s signature anthem.

John Denver released “Take Me Home, Country Roads” on April 12, 1971, as the lead single from his fourth studio album Poems, Prayers & Promises. Denver wrote the song with American songwriters Bill Danoff and Taffy Nivert, and it has since become one of his most recognisable hits. In addition to being a firm fan favourite, “Take Me Home, Country Roads” has been recognised for its cultural significance by its inclusion on the Library of Congress’s National Recording Registry.
