Anyone who watches a performance by classical pianist Camden Stewart is bound to have their attention captured. From his beautiful covers to his stunning original compositions, no one can deny that the young pianist has exceptional levels of talent and a bright future ahead of him. Few, however, will have found themselves quite as mesmerized by his performances as the old man in this video, who watches Camden play like it’s the most beautiful thing he has ever seen.
The video – which has since gone mega viral online – sees Camden playing his original compilation ‘Water’ at a public piano. The old man is one of several people who have gathered round to see Camden’s fingers dance over the keys, but his reaction is unlike anyone else’s. From beginning to end, there is an awe and a disbelief in his eyes that have captured the hearts of thousands of viewers all over the world.
“You can see the pure awe in the older man’s expression,” said one viewer, emphasizing how it’s not every day that you get a personal performance like this one. One of the more humorous comments on the video reads “he had the man shook, bamboozled, shocked, flabbergasted,” while another simply says “I think that man is having a deeply spiritual experience.”
Despite the widespread popularity of this clip online at the moment, however, this is actually not the most viewed video on Camden’s YouTube channel. That honour falls to the video below, showing Camden performing a note-perfect version of the iconic theme from ‘Interstellar’ by Hans Zimmer. The video of this rendition has racked up an eye-watering 11 million views on YouTube alone.
However, I don’t know about you Music Man readers, but I think by far the most touching and emotive video on Camden’s YouTube channel right now is the one that sees the old man in the audience absolutely mesmerized by the pianist’s playing. It’s a timely reminder of the power that music has to bring people together, and as a result, I’m sure there will be many people who find themselves compelled to return to the video time and time again.
Camden Stewart is certainly a pianist to watch — his viral performance of “Water” has moved viewers worldwide and reveals a rare, spellbinding talent. Useful links to find out more — including his music, socials and the full video — are listed below this paragraph so you can discover more.
