British girl group Little Mix brought the heat big time to the final of The X Factor UK, performing their top 10 UK hit “Power”. The opening of the performance was bombastic and all about girl power, but the gals changed tack for the second half of the performance, where they teamed up with American Latin pop boy band CNCO, and things started to get pretty steamy.
Little Mix, who formed during an earlier season of the show, began the performance with a real spectacle that was full of brash confidence and bravado. They performed “Power” with a whole lot of swag, and they had the rap chops and big vocals to make the performance pop. Jesy Nelson threw down a hard-edged rap which drove the opening verse, while Leigh-Anne Pinnock’s smooth R&B style added the perfect contrast to close the first half of the performance.
Little Mix put on a big production for their final appearance, with eye-catching visuals and several dozen female backup dancers in power suits. The group changed things up in the second half when the Miami, Florida boy band CNCO hit the stage, switching up the energy in a big way with their Latin pop vibes. These boys made their name touring with Ricky Martin, which will give you a good idea of the type of energy they brought to the stage.
CNCO and Little Mix showed off plenty of chemistry, and the Latin Romeos put on a show by displaying some saucy dance moves with the English four-piece. The transatlantic collaboration put big numbers on the board on The X Factor YouTube, drawing 55 million views, making it the 12th most popular video in the history of the show. Little Mix indeed knows how to put on a live show, as they also scored a viral hit with their performance of “Black Magic” at The BRITs, which drew 40 million views on YouTube.
When Little Mix formed in 2011, the group consisted of Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall, and Jesy Nelson, although Nelson left in 2020. Each member initially auditioned on the eighth season of The X Factor UK in 2011, and made it through the opening round.
Their progress as soloists stalled in the bootcamp stage, although judge Kelly Rowland later gave them the opportunity to continue in the competition as a four-piece group.
The group format proved to be a winning combination for the girls, and they later went on to win the eighth season of The X Factor UK. Their performance of “Power” with CNCO took place several years later in 2017 when they returned to the show as guest performers.
