Liam Payne surprising his star-struck superfans for an adorable karaoke sesh reminds everyone what a sweetheart the late One Direction star was

One of the things that Louis Tomlinson said about his late One Direction bandmate Liam Payne was that he was the most “kind soul.” An adorable moment that really showed what a sweetheart Liam was came when he surprised his superfans by crashing their karaoke session for a cheeky singalong in a viral segment for Refinery29. The fans believed they were there to shoot a ‘congratulations video’ for Liam’s hit solo single “Strip That Down.”

What they didn’t know was that Liam would be appearing in the flesh, and when he crashed their karaoke session, their completely shocked and then ecstatic reactions made the video too cute. As one of the women in the video noted, Liam always made time to be there for his fans. The Music Man has to say that seeing these kinds of warm interactions with his fans is a great reminder of what a sweetheart he is.

Many people returned to the 2.2 million view video after Liam’s passing and added comments such as “Watching this back after, I am bawling my eyes out. I miss Liam and his sweet energy so much” and “Out of all the videos I’ve watched with Liam, this one made me cry. When he turned that girl around and waved his hands in front of his eyes to try and help her to not cry is when I realized he is really gone. We Love you, Liam. Thank you for being such a comfort to so many people and Rest in Love.”

Another classic Liam Payne moment came when he performed the One Direction hit “Steal My Girl” with his solo band for Capital FM. As Liam noted in interviews, it’s a big job to take on a song meant for five singers as a solo artist, but he absolutely knocked it out of the park here. Hearing his voice cover all five parts showcased what a gorgeous tonality he has as a singer, as well as being a testament to his range.

After One Direction went on indefinite hiatus in 2016, Liam initially considered becoming a behind-the-scenes songwriter but subsequently chose to launch a solo career. The Music Man readers may recall that this proved to be a smart call, as his debut solo single “Strip That Down” went triple Platinum in the US and double Platinum in the UK. Liam subsequently scored three more UK Platinum hits with his solo singles “For You,” “Familiar,” and “Polaroid.” By 2024, his career had begun to stall as he struggled with substance and personal issues. However, his final single, “Teardrops,” debuted on the UK Singles chart for the first time on October 25, 2024, just over a week after his passing on October 16.
