Lewis Capaldi’s Talent Amazes Fans In Remarkable Tiny Desk Concert

With an entire six-person band gathered around him in an intimate office setting, Lewis Capaldi’s Tiny Desk Concert was a stark contrast to his usual live performances. Not least because when performing live it was often with minimal backing, but also because he is now accustomed to selling out arena tours. In fact, Lewis made history as the first artist to sell out an entire arena tour before even releasing his debut album, making the intimacy of the Tiny Desk Concert a rare treat for fans.

Lewis performed four of his songs for the Tiny Desk Concert – ‘Before You Go’, ‘I Wish’, ‘That’s Enough’, and ‘For You’. He interspersed his meaningful and emotional performances with humorous quips in classic Lewis Capaldi style, at one point introducing a song with “What can I say about the next song? Well…it’s three minutes long.” Fans adored the concert, one commenting, “Good lord he sounds even better ‘live’ than on the actual recordings,” as the concert shot to over 4M views.

Despite his enormous success early on in his professional music career, performing live began to become difficult for Lewis due to his development of Tourette’s syndrome. Sharing his diagnosis with fans, he revealed that his rapid rise to fame had resulted in heightened anxiety and tics. He began to experience complications during his live performances and eventually announced that he would stop performing live in June 2023 – only one month after his Tiny Desk Concert was posted.
