Get you a man who can do both: Lenny Kravitz rocked MTV hard at the 2024 VMAs then dropped a hella smooth groove with Quavo

They sure don’t make ‘em like this anymore! At 60 years old, Lenny Kravitz rocked MTV’s 2024 VMAs like nobody’s business. The New York star tore up the stage with an apocalyptic cut of “Are You Gonna Go My Way” as the opener, before switching up the vibe to a funky groove on “Human,” which got all the ladies dancing. Kravitz saved the biggest reveal for last when Quavo hit the stage to drop his rap feature on “Fly.”

Kravitz is one of the last truly great rock and rollers who’s still in his prime, and that was on full display at the VMAs performance. The man just has the full package: effortless star power, a great voice, and the classic songs to boot! Here at The Music Man we’re always down for a Lenny Kravitz show, and this show-stopping trio of hits at the VMAs shows why.

MTV uploaded Kravitz’s VMAs appearance on September 12, 2024, and the video has since gained nearly one million views. Fans gave plenty of love for Kravitz below the video, adding comments such as “I grew up listening to Kravitz because my dad was a fan and he sounds and looks literally the same. I don’t care what anybody says, he’s a classic, a genuine artist” and “This is perfect! Lenny Kravitz is the personification of talent, genius, and all things music!”

One of the best Kravitz performances in recent years is when he hit the stage in Hyde Park, London, to deliver “Are You Gonna Go My Way”. There’s something about open-air concerts that’s just totally rock and roll, and Kravitz really rises to the challenge of performing at the iconic location. The man just knows how to work a crowd to make any performance a special one. The Music Man readers will definitely want to tune in to the bridge where Kravitz’s lead guitarist Craig Ross really goes to town on the solo.

Kravitz released “Are You Gonna Go My Way” on March 9, 1993, as the lead single from his third studio album of the same name. He produced the song himself and co-wrote it with Craig Ross. “Are You Gonna Go My Way” hit number one on the US Album Rock Tracks chart and number four on the UK Singles chart. The track has remained a firm fan favorite in the years since and is currently Kravitz’s most popular song on Spotify, with 440 million streams clocked up.
