Whether you’ve a penchant for classical music or not, you’ve likely heard Lang Lang’s name before. Recently a judge on the Channel 4 show, “The Piano,” Lang Lang broke into the limelight in the 1990s; first as a child prodigy, then becoming one of the most famed pianists of the 21st century, having played for world leaders from Obama to Putin, wowing the world with his segment at the Beijing 2008 Olympics opening ceremony, and even entertaining Pope Francis in 2016.

His wife, Gina, on the other hand, is a lesser-known star, but her story is just as magnificent. Another child prodigy, Gina has been playing the piano since she was just four years old, debuting her talent to the public at eight years of age before dazzling fans with her first solo recital at the age of fifteen.

Since then, Gina has picked up a number of prestigious awards, studied her instrument under the American classical pianist Gary Graffman (who, coincidentally, also tutored Lang Lang!), and met her husband-to-be in Berlin during the mid-2010s.

The pair were married in Paris, in June 2019, at a glamorous hotel with a banquet held at the Palace of Versailles.

After their marriage, the couple moved to Lang Lang’s native China. In January 2021, they announced the birth of their first child, a boy named Winston, to whom Gina soon dedicated her debut album, titled “Wonderworld,” which was released in November 2021.

Together, they serve a flawless Brahms performance; a testament to their enviable chemistry and world-rocking talent, delivering passion through every phrase and a breathtaking blend of drama and tranquility.

Fans had a lot to say about the couple’s Classic FM performance. Some were enthralled by their union, commenting, “Imagine being able to share a passion in that way with your spouse, must be magical” and “I love how Lang Lang seemed to be lost in his own world, while Gina was entranced by her own husband’s performance.”

Another viewer couldn’t help but notice, “Lang Lang takes quite a few liberties with the tempo as one would in a solo, so Gina does a phenomenal job of adjusting her playing on the fly, keeping their playing in unison. Bravo!”

Lang Lang and Gina Alice’s intimate duet is a joyful reminder of classical music’s enduring power. Their viral Steinway Hall performance cements them as a must-watch piano pairing—especially for those new to the genre. Want to explore more performances and background? Find useful links below.
