Get a load of Kamila Witek’s voice! The Polish singer gave a breathtaking soul rendition of Chris Stapleton’s hit “Tennessee Whiskey” as part of her duo Louder. Guitarist Paweł Pawlak provided the twangy guitar groove while Witek absolutely went to town on those catchy vocal hooks. We all know and love Stapleton’s country vibe on the song, but Witek showed that it sounds sublime when given a lithe soul and R&B treatment.
Witek has a smooth and sultry voice that’s just perfect for bringing the best out of the romantic hit. Just check out her heavenly high notes going into the chorus at the two-minute mark. Both Witek and Pawlak really know how to dial in to the essential elements and deliver just what’s needed to make the song pop, without any bells and whistles. The Music Man is sure looking forward to hearing more from this talented duo!
Louder uploaded their “Tennessee Whiskey” cover on September 24, 2024, and it has since been viewed 2.4 million times. Fans couldn’t get enough of the performance and added comments such as “Wow, her voice is absolutely stunning! She really did justice to ‘Tennessee Whiskey’ with this cover. I could listen to her sing all day. Amazing talent!” and “Oh absolutely amazing cover of a great song. This lady is something else. What a lovely silky voice suits this perfectly! Listening in Australia over and over!”
The “Tennessee Whiskey” cover was Louder’s debut on YouTube, and so far the group is yet to upload a second video. Numerous other singers have scored viral hits with the country song, however. One of the most popular covers of “Tennessee Whiskey” is Teddy Swims’ live studio session on the tune. It won’t surprise The Music Man readers to hear that Swims also honed in on the soul elements of the song, and it seems like those smooth melodies were just made for his voice.
“Tennessee Whiskey” was penned by American songwriters Dean Dillon and Linda Hargrove. The tune was first recorded in 1981 by American country singer David Allan Coe, and his version hit the top 100 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart.
The most notable recording of “Tennessee Whiskey” is Chris Stapleton’s version. The Kentucky singer sang a duet on the tune with Justin Timberlake at the 2015 Country Music Association Awards. The duet went viral and broke Stapleton into the international market. He subsequently scored a 17-times Platinum hit with his studio recording of “Tennessee Whiskey.”
