We all know how unpredictable a toddler’s “dance” moves can be (anyone else remember spending a full five minutes jumping on the spot to Spice Girls at a kid’s birthday disco?), so when James Corden invited a bunch of toddlers to teach him and Justin Bieber how to boogie, the result was 100% comedy gold, amassing 28 million YouTube hits to date!
The short “Toddlerography” clip kicks off with James and Justin in the dance studio, telling each other that “these dance instructors don’t mess around,” only for the camera to pan to a three-year-old girl standing in the doorway like a scene from a horror movie, asking, “Are you ready?”
As the nostalgic intro of Justin’s breakthrough, on-topic hit “Baby” plays out, James and Justin form a dance-off triangle, placing their constantly changing, young instructor front and center. At the first sign of a track-suited James Corden struggling to keep up with the kids’ feral energy levels, Music Man readers will know they’re in for a treat.

But the craziest thing about this Late Late Show skit is how talented some of the pipsqueak dancers are, with two of them dancing like pros in the making and throwing the stage-trained Justin Bieber off entirely. A young breakdancer makes Justin look like a novice as he tries to match his moves, while the sheer concentration plastered on Justin’s face is hilarious to watch!
What would you do if you had the power to control James Corden’s movements? One kid had the right idea when she sent him crashing to the hardwood floor, while others surely gave him PE flashbacks running wall-to-wall across the dance studio as if trying to conquer a bleep test. Some of the kids keep James completely stumped, as he looks over exasperatedly to a cartwheeling Justin as if to say “for god’s sake, do something I can do.” Thankfully, most of the kids make up their dances on the spot in a moment of tumble-time mayhem, but even then, the stars can’t catch up with their quickfire randomness.
From spinning on bums to handclapping and performing vague impressions of yoga stretches, the young dancemasters break out some truly throwback, universal toddler moves. But the ultimate ‘do you feel old yet?’ moment comes when you realize the hit they’re dancing to was released years before these kids were even born!
