America’s Got Talent Judges Said Jourdan Blue Will Be A Superstar, And When You Hear His Soulful And Passionate Golden Buzzer Performance, You Might Just Agree!

When this Louisiana lad hit the America’s Got Talent stage for a show-stopping golden buzzer performance, the soul and passion in his voice took everyone’s breath away! The 23-year-old busker Jourdan Blue performed The Script’s “Breakeven,” and from the first line it was clear that he was something special. Blue has it all – a smoky, characterful low end and a beautiful, honeyed high range. Just past the six-minute mark, his emotional performance had the crowd giving him a standing ovation before he even finished.

Blue appeared on America’s Got Talent on May 28, 2025, and his audition instantly went viral, clocking 1.5 million views in just three days. The judges were flabbergasted at what he delivered, and the looks of awe on the faces of Simon Cowell and Sofia Vergara at 6:28 said everything. Howie Mandel spoke for everyone when he told an emotional Blue that “You, young man, are going to the stratosphere” and hit the golden buzzer. The Music Man has to say that Blue def has what it takes to go all the way this year!

Viewers got to see another side of Blue after the golden buzzer, when his girlfriend brought his newborn son onto the stage and he held him in the air. Blue then had a video call with his proud grandpa. The young talent’s audition got a warm reception from fans, who added comments such as “I don’t know why, but I cried watching his performance. Well deserved golden buzzer” and “That’s a voice you do NOT let get away. He sings with so much emotion! That’s top tier!”

So far, we’ve only seen one America’s Got Talent performance from Blue. The New Orleans singer has shared a single full-length cover on his YouTube channel though. He covered Cynthia Erivo’s “Stand Up” from her Harriet Tubman biopic, Harriet. This performance shows Blue’s versatility and displays his complete mastery of R&B and soul vocals. The sky-high falsetto that he drops at 1:58 is simply jaw-dropping and really shows that he’s got so much more up his sleeve for future performances on America’s Got Talent.

Blue’s socials don’t show off a whole lot of details about him apart from the fact that he is passionate about busking in New Orleans. However, he did share several personal details about himself just prior to his audition, which The Music Man readers might be interested to hear. Blue told the judges that his mother and father were a “cop and lawyer, so naturally I was a rebel.” He added that he then “got into some trouble” and ended up living at his grandpa’s house, where his grandpa’s love for music inspired him. This detail made seeing how proud his grandpa was during the performance extra special, as he got to see the audition via a video call on a phone that was thoughtfully held up by host Terry Crews.
