Jessie J Delivers Unforgettable Whitney Houston Cover On Chinese Singing Competition Show

In 2018, Jessie J was already a hugely popular act. However, she was about to become even more famous when she appeared on the 2018 season of the Chinese talent show Singer, where she performed an unforgettable cover of Whitney Houston’s immovable classic “I Will Always Love You”. Not only did she do the song justice, but she delivered it in her unique way and made it her own; a sign of true talent in a musician, which won her the competition.

Donning a stunning silver dress and with her hair pinned majestically, Jessie J looked like a superstar as she sang in front of a crowd who adored every note that came from her. With a backing band, a dark purple atmospheric light setting, and a pitch-perfect performance, she stole the show’s crown and created one of the best live covers of this classic love song in the process. Her performance is one full of passion, and you can watch it in the video below.

The audience was already in the palm of Jessie J’s hand, but when she hit the infamous high note of “I Will Always Love You”, they seemed to fall in love with her even more! When her performance was over, she demonstrated her humility and personality by saying, “This show has changed my life, and made me a better person and a better performer.” With a tear in her eye, she thanked the crowd for welcoming her.

Jessie J has been involved in the entertainment and music industries since the age of 11 when she was given a role in the West End musical, Whistle Down the Wind. She became a huge hit in the UK when she released “Do It Like A Dude” in 2010, but her fame hit international status with the release of her single “Price Tag”, which featured B.o.B. Since her career began, she has released five studio albums, with the most recent being a Christmas album titled This Christmas Day.

Jessie J was the first non-Chinese and foreign singer to win the Singer competition, with Chinese contestants Hua Chenyu and Wang Feng coming in second and third place. The show began in 2013 and is currently still taking place every year.
