For an actor and comedian, Jamie Foxx sure can sing like a bird! The Texan star showed his skills off yet again when he dropped into The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to do a hilarious Wheel of Musical segment. First up, Fallon put Foxx up to doing Mick Jagger singing “Hakuna Matata.” The actor then pranced around the stage like a caffeinated rooster while performing an outrageous impression of the Rolling Stones frontman. This instantly cracked up the whole audience, but Foxx was just getting warmed up.
Later in the 75 million view segment, Foxx did John Legend singing the Toys R Us jingle. This was much closer to the Texan’s bread and butter than blues rock, and he showed off some gorgeous R&B vocals, leading up to an impressive high note before turning the song into a gag to close things out. The Music Man readers won’t want to miss Foxx’s final impression, as he saved the best for last, to do Jennifer Hudson singing “On Top of Spaghetti,” showcasing some unbelievable high notes.
The 75 million view count made Foxx’s challenge one of the most viewed videos of all time on The Tonight Show, which is really saying something considering how many stars appear on the show. Fans added nearly 24,000 comments below the video and marveled at what Foxx can do musically with comments such as “Jamie has massive talent. That John Legend impression was incredible. Astounding.” and “How he did that Jennifer Hudson impression was just beyond comprehension. What a talent! Beyond impressed.”

Foxx’s Musical Genre Challenge was such a hit that Fallon just had to ask him back for round two! The Texan again showed his amazing mimicry and comedy chops with a performance of “Who Let the Dogs Out?” as a Broadway musical. He then wrapped up the segment by digging into a bombastic Rihanna hit as a delicate opera tune, no less.
Foxx made his name as a comedian in the early ‘90s and later as a multiple Academy Award-winning actor. However, The Music Man readers won’t be surprised to hear that he’s also quite accomplished as an R&B singer. The Texan dropped his debut album Peep This in 1994, which hit the top 20 of the US R&B chart. His musical career really took off with his second and third albums, Unpredictable and Intuition. These releases from 2005 and 2008 scored Foxx a double Platinum and Platinum album in the US, respectively.
