Jacob Collier and Aurora created a magical moment with this stunning duet on the icy Arctic sea. Yes, you heard that right, the two talented singers joined a Greenpeace expedition to the Arctic and set up a recording session on a small platform just above the icy ocean, in front of an ice floe. This incredible visual was complemented by a heartfelt piano and vocal performance by Collier on his song “A Rock Somewhere.”
Aurora dropped in with a delicate and breathy vocal halfway through the song, and then the pair brought the song to a dramatic conclusion by singing a duet. Next, it was Aurora’s turn to shine as she took the lead vocal on her song “The Seed,” and then the pair brilliantly turned the arrangement back around to “A Rock Somewhere.” You won’t want to miss the wild dual scream that the pair end the arrangement with. The performance really shows two masters at work, and The Music Man is very happy to share it.
Collier uploaded the duet to his YouTube channel on October 1, 2024, and it has since gained 1.5 million views. Fans loved the special collaboration and added comments such as “The last scream and cut scenes got me teared up at the end. They’re the perfect artists to bring this message!” and “Finally they found each other! Art is made of encounters. This one is magic.”
Collier explained that the purpose of the video was to lobby for the protection of the Arctic Ocean ecosystem by creating sanctuaries for marine life and linked to a Greenpeace petition towards that end in the video description. The Arctic trip is not the only big video Collier dropped on his channel recently, as on December 28, 2024, he uploaded a duet with Chris Martin. The Coldplay singer sang a duet with Collier on “Fix You” live at the latter’s O2 Arena show in London.
Jacob Collier is a 30-year-old English singer-songwriter who was born on August 2, 1994, in London. He released “A Rock Somewhere” on February 29, 2024, as the eighth track from his fifth studio album Djesse Vol. 4. The album featured a number of big-name collaborations, including appearances from Shawn Mendes, John Legend, and Steve Vai. Chris Martin also appeared on the 13th track “Over You” as a featured artist, which perhaps formed the basis for their subsequent live collab at the O2 Arena.
