11-Year-Old Jack Goodacre Reignites Tom Petty Classic On The Voice Kids

Audiences rarely get to see a young rock star be born on stage, but The Voice Kids contestant and rock star hopeful, Jack Goodacre, was given the opportunity of a lifetime. In front of a full audience, and a handful of influential judges, Jack performed Tom Petty’s unforgettable classic rock ballad “Free Fallin’” and blew the crowd away with his impressive vocal range. As we will come to see, it’s not just with singing that this young rock star is familiar; he’s also a talented guitarist!

This vibrant 11-year-old wowed the judges with his love of rock and roll, and his passion for music truly shone throughout his performance. Jack acquired this passion for music from his father, with whom he is in a band. Before his performance, he mentioned the happiness that he feels when he is performing with his father. With his loving family backstage watching and giving him all the support they can, Jack Goodacre gets right on stage with a big smile, and performs his best.

As if Jack Goodacre’s actual audition performance wasn’t impressive enough, he was later asked about his other musical pursuits. After telling the audience and judges that he enjoys rock music and noting “Sweet Child O’ Mine” by Guns N’ Roses as one of his favorite songs to play, Danny Jones invited him to perform with him. After setting up a guitar for Jack for a few moments, the two rocked it up and performed the Guns N’ Roses classic live in an impromptu moment that wowed the crowd.

Tom Petty’s “Free Fallin'” became one of the true hits of the 1990s, but his career spanned far greater lengths than this one classic. With its release in 1989, “Free Fallin'” quickly surged in popularity and was even used in some media, such as the movie Jerry Maguire in 1996. Following Petty’s death in 2017, “Free Fallin'” reached the second spot on the Spotify Global Viral 50; otherwise, it has always been known as one of Tom Petty’s most famous and successful tracks.

Sadly, Jack Goodacre didn’t quite hit the mark for The Voice Kids, and he was eliminated in the competition’s semi-finals. However, this didn’t stop him from pursuing his dream of being a music star, and he later paired up with his dad, Tim, and took to the Britain’s Got Talent competition instead. Here, they flew through the competition and guaranteed themselves a spot in the live segments of the show, after Simon Cowell hit his Golden Buzzer.

Outside of his appearances on talent shows across the UK, Jack Goodacre has pursued a solo career as an independent artist. His first solo single, “Brightside”, was released in 2018 and featured an upbeat pop-blues style, while also showing that this young virtuoso has what it takes to become a star.

Jack Goodacre also starred in the Andrew Lloyd-Webber musical rendition of the classic rock movie School Of Rock, performing nightly for 12 months to sold-out crowds in London.
