Atomic Kitten singer Kerry Katona gave her 12-year-old daughter Heidi the chance to shine for the very first time, bringing her along to audition for the hit TV show spin-off, The Voice Kids, in her debut music performance.
But after unleashing her sparkling voice, the moment became far too much for Heidi to handle, leading the Voice judges to rush on stage to comfort the tearful child in a heartwarming moment. The judges have no idea that Heidi is the daughter of a pro girl group singer. But as Heidi nervously sings the first lines of her blind audition song, “I Try,” judge will.i.am almost instantly spins his chair, wowed by her bravery.
Heidi fights through brewing tears and reaches the chorus like a pro, serving it with newfound strength and confidence, which the judges pick up on. At the very last moment, both Paloma Faith and Danny Jones slam their chair-spinning buttons, leaving Pixie Lott as the only judge unturned.
However, as soon as the song comes to an end, Heidi breaks down in tears, clearly overwhelmed by the moment. Kerry Katona, who is watching on from the stage wings, screams in excitement and pride at Heidi’s success. But it’s Paloma Faith who instinctively rushes on stage to comfort the twelve-year-old, giving her a huge hug as her fellow judges soon join her.
Paloma, a mother of three children, lets her maternal instinct shine as she lets Heidi sit in her judge’s chair and calms her with the help of Will, Pixie, and Danny. She tells her, “I can’t believe how well you sang with all those nerves because when I feel emotional, I can’t sing at all.”
Will.I.Am gives Heidi a boost of his own, commenting, “You’re twelve years old, and you have the courage of a superwoman to come out on stage and face your fears.”
Before long, Heidi has recovered from the moment, soon revealing who her celebrity mother is and driving Danny Jones into a hilarious frenzy of shock. Heidi chooses to join Paloma’s team, sending her through to the next round of the show.
