Nicole Pesce Plays Happy Birthday
The tune to happy birthday is well known all over the world, its lyrics known to all. From kid’s parties to grandpa’s 90th birthday bash we have all sang it at some point in our lives. Nicole Pesce, a pianist, keyboardist and composer from America has taken the “Happy Birthday” song and given it an interesting twist.
In a performance in 2013 she was playing at a comedic music show to a full audience when she decided to showcase her talents by playing the song in the styles of five classical pianists: Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Brahms and Bach.
The amusing video shows Pesce play the tune in the typical styles of the classical performers, adding a comedic edge which she is well known for. Not only does she add comic relief to the simple tune but showcases how truly talented a pianist and performer she is.
Throughout the performance she plays with confidence and dexterity, even lying down and playing upside down at the end of the performance much to the crowd’s delight. The Victor Borge-esk performance is a truly entertaining watch and is highly recommended.
Pesce is an artist of some considerable repute having started playing piano at a very young age. By the age of seven she had memorised over one hundred songs and by the age of ten she had memorised in excess of five hundred. Pesce has played for some truly big players like Muhammad Ali, Waylon Jennings and George Bush Sr.
