Gary Barlow & Robbie Williams sang together one more time on “Could It Be Magic” and guess who turned up as the special guest!

Barry Manilow performed his hit “Could It Be Magic,” and two of the UK’s finest pop voices joined in to complete the party! That’s right, old Take That bandmates Robbie Williams and Gary Barlow hit the stage together to complete an epic vocal trio with Manilow. Manilow opened the performance by singing solo at the piano, and then it was on like Donkey Kong when Williams and Barlow hit the stage together as the band came in.

The trio performed the classic pop tune at a Children In Need Rocks charity concert, and the crowd went wild when Williams and Barlow appeared. The energy in the room was electric by this point, and having all that vocal firepower together on stage made for a truly epic performance. It was a real pleasure to see the three stars building off each other on stage and clearly having a ball doing it.

The trio performed “Could It Be Magic” for the Children In Need Rocks 2013 concert, which raised funds for the BBC’s charity for disadvantaged youth. Barlow was a shoo-in for inclusion on the bill, as he organized the annual concert starting in 2011. The performance proved to be popular with fans online, who tuned in 5.6 million times on YouTube.

Fans were really amazed with what the trio delivered, and added comments such as “The combination of so many amazing voices is blowing my mind!” and “Wow, what a performance and I love how Robbie and Gary show so much respect to Barry. True class for a memorable performance!” Williams has teamed up with Barlow several times over the years since his split from Take That in 1995, with one memorable moment being his first song back with the reunited group in 2010, where they sang “The Flood.”

Manilow composed the music for “Could It Be Magic,” taking inspiration from Frédéric Chopin’s Prelude in C minor, Opus 28, Number 20. Manilow’s group Featherbed first released the song with songwriting contributions from Tony Orlando in 1971. Manilow then released the song again in 1973 as a solo release, this time with songwriting contributions from Adrienne Anderson. The Featherbed version of the song failed to chart, which Manilow attributed to a poor arrangement. When he got to do the song his way for a solo release, “Could It Be Magic” met with more success, peaking at number six on the Billboard Hot 100 and at number 25 in the UK.
