Filipino dad and his three kids in Franz Rhythm can’t stop going viral for amazing ‘90s alt rock covers, and this young girl’s soulful voice will knock you for six

This Filipino dad and his three talented young kids can’t stop going viral for their amazing ‘90s alt rock covers! The four-piece Franz Rhythm family band sure can groove, but it was young Chen on lead vocals who really stole the show on the Four Non Blondes classic “What’s Up.” Their cover hit nearly 10 million views on YouTube, making it one of the most popular performances of the song online.

Franz Rhythm performed the song in a single take during a live jam – no studio tricks needed for these talented kids. Sister Char really impressed with her simple, classy lead licks, while little brother Dodz bowled everyone over with his big groove on the drum kit. The Music Man has to say that the great performances aside, seeing the family jam together and smile so happily throughout made this a really heartwarming moment.

Franz Rhythm uploaded the performance on their family YouTube channel FranzRhythm Mom, with mother Arlene noting that it was her favorite song. Viewers gave plenty of praise, adding comments such as “Wow!!! Insanely great vocal range, tone and pitch! Nailed it!! Love to see young artists with talent and dedication!” and “This is the best cover I have heard. Her voice is better than the original. Great work.”

‘90s alt rock classics is somewhat of a specialty for Franz Rhythm. The band also scored a popular upload with their take on The Cranberries’ 1994 hit “Zombie.” Chen shines again on those iconic vocal lines – somebody get this girl a recording contract! Chen has a real talent for getting to the heart of a song, without trying to oversing. It’s very impressive for such a young singer.

Franz Rhythm is a Filipino band from Sevilla on the island province of Bohol. The band is named after dad Franz Birad, who plays bass guitar.
