There have been many auditions on Britain’s Got Talent over the years that have divided the judging panel – although none perhaps quite as much as the recent audition by Epic Sax Guy, whose performance in the first round of the competition has already gone viral online. The video has racked up over a million views on YouTube alone in less than a week, with many saying this is one of the most memorable auditions in the show’s history.
As soon as Epic Sax Guy started his performance, unleashing a fast riff on his saxophone, it was clear it was going to be a memorable one. The reaction of KSI alone was enough to know this, with the judge holding his hands to his face in shock and shouting “oh my God, this is crazy!” As Epic Sax Guy continued his act, playing saxophone along to hyper euro-dance music, fellow judges Alesha Dixon and Simon Cowell decided it was not for them, with both pressing their red buzzers.
But things only got more bizarre, Music Man readers. As KSI gets even more hyped about the performance, it’s clear this is not the first time he has heard Epic Sax Guy play. It turns out KSI is intimately familiar with the saxophonist’s work, as a parody video he previously uploaded to YouTube appears on the screen behind Epic Sax Guy as he plays.
As it turns out, Music Man readers, Epic Sax Guy is a viral Internet sensation, having first risen to fame in 2010 when he played saxophone on Moldova’s entry for the Eurovision Song Contest in that year. Titled ‘Run Away,’ this is the song Epic Sax Guy played for his BGT audition; you can watch the original Eurovision version via the video below.
Despite both Alesha Dixon and Simon Cowell pressing their red buzzers during his very surreal audition, Epic Sax Guy actually ended up proceeding to the next round of BGT with four yeses, with Simon Cowell agreeing to give him a yes as long as KSI performed with him in the next round. With this in mind, Music Man readers, we are truly excited to see what Epic Sax Guy brings to the table throughout his time in the competition.
Epic Sax Guy’s BGT audition has divided the panel and thrilled viewers, becoming one of the season’s most unforgettable moments. For the full audition, fan reactions and related clips, check the useful links below this paragraph to discover more.
