For many musicians, there are some music venues and studios that they would have to be incredibly fortunate to visit, let alone record a piece of music in. In 2019, Ed Sheeran did exactly that when he got the opportunity to record a live version of his hit collaboration with Justin Bieber, “I Don’t Care”, at the iconic Abbey Road Studios.
Abbey Road Studios is an incredibly famous music recording studio that is based in London, England. Established in 1931, it has housed some of the biggest names in music in its near-100-year history, including The Beatles, who even named their 1969 album in dedication to the studio. The Walt Disney Music Company also chose Abbey Road Studios to record many of the vocal and musical arrangements for some of their biggest movie albums, like The Aristocats and The Wizard of Oz.
The black and white tone of this video helps us concentrate on Ed Sheeran’s incredible musicianship, while the acoustics of the music studio allow his music to shine in the best way possible. It’s interesting to think that he is standing and performing in the same building where The Beatles created some of their most iconic works, and he has earned his place amongst the greats in music. “I Don’t Care” is a complex piece to play acoustically, and Ed Sheeran nails every aspect of it.
