Dua Lipa performs incredible orchestral version of “Training Season” at the Royal Albert Hall

Dua Lipa has had one hell of a year: releasing a #1 album, headlining Glastonbury, and recently getting engaged to her boyfriend of one year, Callum Turner, as the Christmas bells ring out. But this London star stunned audiences across the globe with her otherworldly performance at the Royal Albert Hall aired on CBS, in a show entitled, “An Evening with Dua Lipa.”

This wasn’t your usual pop gig by any standards — not only did Elton John show up for a live collab of the pair’s #1 single, “Cold Heart,” but Dua’s set came backed by a full orchestra, casting new hues on her chart-toppers so moving that Dua has revealed, “it made me fall in love with music all over again.”

In a ruby red, split-leg gown and evening gloves, 29-year-old Dua slays her winter hit “Training Season” as if she’s singing it on the record; pitch-perfect and full of pizzazz, atmosphere, and show-stopping energy. Her stage design is just as extravagant — a catwalk curling around the theatre’s centre like a meandering river, the orchestra settled in its crevices. The clip has already amassed over 6.1 million views in a matter of weeks!

After hearing this Dua song plastered across radio stations throughout 2024, this Royal Albert Hall rendition truly stands out, whimsically re-arranged for full orchestral effect yet charged with a brand new, electric energy. To see Dua have the time of her life on this stage, commanding the room like a goddess, is bound to make any Music Man reader’s day.

But when Elton John hits the stage halfway through the gig, surprising fans with a “Cold Heart” medley, the crowd truly goes wild. A huge choir backs the pair as Dua (after a gothic costume change) throws fans off guard by singing the opening lyrics to Elton’s 1972 hit, “Rocket Man,” only for Elton to jump on stage to mingle his legendary lyrics with that of “Cold Heart.”

Despite the pair releasing their #1 collab back in 2021, this Royal Albert Hall performance is the first time Dua and Elton have performed the track live together. Dua later revealed to MSN the wholesome story behind the pair’s long-awaited stage debut: “Obviously Elton is no stranger to the Albert Hall himself and it felt like such a chic and elegant night, so I needed my most chic and fabulous friend to come and join me. He immediately said yes.”

But she wasn’t finished praising the pop icon yet, revealing, “One thing about Elton is that he always shows up for his friends. He’s super loyal… he’s just always been there, lending his ear and being so supportive.”

Dua Lipa’s star power has undeniably reached new heights, with her extraordinary performance at the Royal Albert Hall capturing the hearts of millions.
