The band plays well-known songs such as “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You”, their signature song “The Lion Sleeps Tonight”, an arrangement of “Amazing Grace” with a distinctive Trinidad setting, and the list goes on. It’s great to see so many talented youngsters getting involved with this beautiful instrument.

Below is another video of the high school, this time playing “Here Comes The Sun” by the Beatles.

Steel Drums

The steel drums are also known as “Steelpan” drums. They’re are a musical instrument that originated from Trinidad and Tobago. People who play this instrument are known as “pannists” and a modern-day steelpan drum is a chromatically pitched percussion instrument made from 55-gallon industrial drums.

The instrument has a beautifully calm and adaptive sound. You can hear the instrument being used in relaxing meditation style music all the way to electronic dance music.
