In 2022, the Danish National Symphony Orchestra decided to hold a special film music concert called the ‘Hollywood Gala’. At the Gala, the Orchestra paid tribute to music from iconic films across history. They joined forces with powerful Danish vocalists, Ethiopia-born Andrea Lykke Oehlenschlæger and Denmark-born Diluckshan Jeyaratnam, who played their parts as the stars of the show, singing their way through the classic Hollywood soundtracks.
A highlight of the concert for many viewers was when the two came together in a duet to perform a rendition of the Titanic soundtrack’s iconic theme song, ‘My Heart Will Go On’ by Celine Dion. After a grand and atmospheric introduction by the orchestra, Andrea began to sing the song, her smooth and floating vocals growing in power as the song progressed. The performance was taken to new heights as Diluckshan joined her, their voices blending in harmony with the supporting choir.
Viewers were astonished by the beauty and grandeur of the performance, flocking to view the online video, which shot to over 4.3M views. Many acknowledged that the duet was no easy task, as the singers had big shoes to fill, but they rose to meet the challenge. Some viewers were so amazed that they felt that the singers had taken the song to new heights, with one commenting, “There has never been a cover that came close to the greatness of the original.
