Adele has such an amazing voice and so many incredible songs that it’s no wonder there are thousands of cover versions of her music on YouTube. Among all of them, one stands out, however. It’s a cover of Set Fire To The Rain, and it is performed by a Kazakhstani girl called Daneliya Tuleshova.
In the video, Daneliya is barely sixteen and yet her voice is exceptional and so is her performance. An average performance can be disguised a little with elaborate backdrops, backing singers or an entire band. Daneliya needs none of these tricks. She is simply dressed in a plain black dress and some light makeup.
She stands against a plain white wall during her rendition with nothing that draws focus, your attention is all on her. When she starts to sing it seems impossible this rich, mature voice could come from such a young girl, but it does. Adele is not an easy act to follow but Daneliya sings the song so beautifully that it’s hard to decide which one is better.
Naturally, YouTube has gone crazy for this video and this talented young lady. Set Fire To The Rain has been watched 2.5 million times in eleven months! The comments section is full of praise but this comment sums it up best, “She’s has a one-in-a-billion level of talent. One of the best female voices on the planet. Her voice is pure, effortless, and tonically exquisite, and she superbly and artistically controls it. She is a vocal phenomenon, so good she is almost beyond belief.”
It’s no wonder Daneliya’s YouTube channel has 1.47 million subscribers. Believe it or not, her Adele cover isn’t even the most popular one on her channel. The cover of Hosier’s Take Me To Church has 5.2 million views and is so good it’s linked below. Both of these videos are covers you really must see, but you must also ask where this talented young lady came from.
Daneliya was born on July 18th 2006 in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan. She had varied interests as a child and initially was interested in gymnastics. However, when she hurt herself she began taking ballroom dancing lessons. These were quickly followed by contemporary dance, acting and singing lessons. When you add on school she must have been a busy little girl.
When she was eight she was discovered by the organisers of a singing contest in Kazakhstan. Named Ayaglagan Astana it acted as the selection round for the more prestigious New Wave competition. She won the Ayaglagan Astana and make it to the final in New Wave.
This was only the beginning of the competitions for Daneliya. She won the European Hopes For Europe contest, and later the same year she won The Voice: Kids in Ukraine. In 2018, she won the Glimpse into the Future Award in the first International Professional Music Premium Bravo Awards in Moscow. Then, in September, she was selected to represent Ukraine is the Junior Eurovision Song Contest where she came 6th.
She has achieved a lot in her first sixteen years and it seems certain there is lots more to come. If you would like to see more from Daneliya Tuleshova, you can subscribe to their YouTube channel or follow them on Facebook.
