Cream called it quits in 1968. But on one magical night 37 years later, the greatest power trio of all time would hit the stage again. That delectable chemistry between Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker, and Jack Bruce was still there in all its glory. The British luminaries blessed fans in 2026 by uploading an HD cut of their signature jam “Sunshine of Your Love” from their reunion at the Royal Albert Hall. The boys had an infamously rocky relationship personally, but their musical bond was absolutely untouchable.
This can be very clearly seen by the mammoth groove they delivered at their 2005 reunion show. Ginger’s enigmatic drumming creates such a compelling rhythmic base, while Jack’s slithering fretless bass lines play off him so satisfyingly. Eric and Jack deliver a killer vocal duo, and needless to say, Eric’s guitar playing is mind-melting. The Music Man has to say that 37 years was far too long between drinks for these legends.
Cream uploaded a 1080p cut of “Sunshine of Your Love” to YouTube on April 3, 2026, drawing 1.2 million views. Fans loved to see such high-quality footage of the reunion, and added comments such as “Ginger’s drumming was so tasteful, so amazing. May he and Jack rest in eternal peace” and “The fact that they’re doing what they’re doing as a trio is extraordinary!”
The Cream boys dropped all their classics during their Royal Albert Hall performance. Another highlight from the show was their cut of “White Room.” Jack and Eric do such great work as co-lead vocalists. The gravitas and power of Jack’s vocals play off so perfectly with Eric’s reedier and soulful approach. Watching Eric work in this power trio format with the great Jack and Ginger is so interesting, because he plays and performs so differently compared to his solo work.
The Music Man readers may recall that Cream played their final pair of concerts on their original ‘60s run on November 25 and 26, 1968, at the Royal Albert Hall. Despite their commercial and critical success, tensions between Jack and Ginger ran high throughout their career and eventually made continuing the band untenable. Eric had also grown tired of playing peacemaker between the pair and sought to pursue a more intimate style of music after hearing The Band’s output. Cream reunited for four shows in 2005 on May 2, 3, 5, and 6, again at the Royal Albert Hall. All the shows sold out within the hour. The group subsequently played three shows in October 2005 in New York City. This was the final time the trio played live together. Jack and Ginger have since passed away, in 2014 and 2019 respectively.
