When a man started playing the tuba in the middle of the French countryside, it was no surprise when the cows in the field looked over to see what the strange sound was. Slowly but surely, the cows made their way over to listen to the playing. Before long, the band had attracted the entire field of cows, who were standing by the fence and watching them closely as the musicians played. Viewers in the comments of the video that was posted online loved how attentive the cows seemed. One even felt that the cows made up the perfect audience, commenting, “I like how the cows were more respectful than most human audiences.”
I was really charmed to see just how intrigued the cows were by the music. I could appreciate the wonderful playing by New Hot 5, but when the cows began to look over, I assumed it was out of pure curiosity to see what was causing the racket. This time, the creatures that approached them in the fields were entirely different. They’d turned ‘Jazz For Cows’ into ‘Jazz For Dinosaurs,’ with friends in dinosaur costumes gathering around to listen at the fence just as the cows did.
It would certainly take a group with a sense of humor and creativity to come up with the concepts that New Hot 5 did. Despite the unexpected and amusing elements of the videos, there is also a sense of warmth and authenticity to them that has struck a chord with everyone who listened, human and bovine alike.
