When Billie Eilish and Khalid got together onstage to perform their duet ‘Lovely’, the crowd went crazy and almost took over the singing! The video of this magical performance will have you tearing up when you hear the audience’s reaction to the song, and it’s clear Billie and Khalid are in love with their enthusiasm too. No wonder this video is at 42 million views and counting!
The performance came as part of Billie’s set at the Governors Ball Music Festival in 2018. Looking out into the crowd, she yells, “please welcome, Khalid, b*tch!”, and the audience becomes a blinding frenzy of cheers and screams. The two singers share a tight embrace before the intro to ‘Lovely’ begins, at which point the crowd turns into a sea of phones as fans rush to film the beautiful performance they are about to witness.
Perhaps the most special moment of the performance, however, came when Billie and Khalid encouraged the audience to sing the chorus with them. Having been screaming the words for most of the song already, the audience was delighted to get their chance to shine in front of their idols and they sang loudly and proudly, phones still held high in the air.
And if you’re a fan of this video, Music Man readers, you’ll definitely want to check out this more recent performance of ‘Lovely’, filmed by a fan at Coachella Festival in 2022. Both Billie and Khalid seem older and infinitely more experienced as they perform, but the audience’s reaction is very much reminiscent of that which was showcased at the Gov Ball, with screams echoing out across the venue and a sea of phones being held aloft for the entirety of the rendition.
When ‘Lovely’ was released back in 2018 as the lead single from the soundtrack of the second season of ‘13 Reasons Why,’ both critics and fans went crazy for it. Six years later and we’re still in love with the song, and as such we can’t wait to see Billie and Khalid’s next live performance of the track, which we’re sure will be as good as those they gave in 2018 at the Gov Ball and in 2022 at Coachella.
Billie Eilish and Khalid certainly know how to create unforgettable musical moments, as evidenced by this incredible performance at the Governors Ball. With the crowd singing their hearts out, it’s easy to see why this video continues to rack up millions of views. Want to relive this magical moment or find out more about these talented artists?
