So anyone that grew up in the ‘80s and ‘90s knows that the Dirty Dancing soundtrack had some of the biggest bangers ever. This was on full display when Bill Medley and his daughter McKenna sang the classic romantic tune “(I’ve Had) the Time of My Life” during a performance on Larry’s Country Diner. The 2019 appearance was a long way from 1987, but Bill still has that golden voice we all know and love.
Bill, best known for his role in the Righteous Brothers duo, originally sang “(I’ve Had) the Time of My Life” with country pop singer Jennifer Warnes. It won’t surprise The Music Man readers to hear that the apple hasn’t fallen far from the tree with his daughter McKenna, as she sure sounds absolutely gorgeous while performing the duet with her dad as well. Rather than the dance pop production of the original, the pair lean into a country pop vibe with their live duet, and it’s a really tasty interpretation.
Bill and McKenna’s duet on “(I’ve Had) the Time of My Life” was quite the hit on YouTube, where it has drawn 14.6 million views since its upload on July 29, 2019. Fans really enjoyed hearing the dad and daughter duet, and added comments such as “Bill’s voice is an icon in music history but her voice is absolutely beautiful. God bless you both” and “Father and daughter having the time of their life. Great version of this great hit song.”

Bill and Jennifer Warnes appear in another popular live version of “(I’ve Had) the Time of My Life.” The performance date isn’t specified, but judging by Bill’s style of suit and his rockin’ popped collar, it seems to be from a television performance in 1987 or soon after.
