Guitar prodigy Bay Melnick Virgolina crushed his viral 2025 audition on Lenny Kravitz’s “Are You Gonna Go My Way.” The youngster’s rocking guitar and vocal performance had the crowd instantly on their feet and screaming like he was Hendrix. Bay really is a superstar in the making, as he has incredible guitar chops, a great voice, and stage presence for days!
Bay named Guns N’ Roses’ Slash as his guitar idol, and just like Slash, he definitely knows how to put on a show and keep the crowd hooked. It’s just the kind of audition that makes you feel good to watch, as seeing a 10-year-old so passionate about old-school rock & roll and just killing it on stage is really something. Bay impressed with his groovy rhythm guitar playing and powerful voice, and then at 2:27 he let loose with a solo that The Music Man has to say absolutely sealed the deal on his audition success.
Bay proved to be one of the biggest hits this year on AGT, as his July 8, 2025, audition hit 2 million views in less than a week. Fans watching at home were stoked on Bay’s audition and added comments such as “Most people have no idea how insanely hard and how much coordination you need to sing and play that riff at the same time. It’s much more impressive than it seems at first, like, so much more. Wow!” and “This kid not only is a maestro of guitar but has a personality and stage presence that is TOTALLY THERE!”
AGT is not the first time that Bay’s guitar skills have caused a stir. The future rock legend already scored a viral video in April 2024 on his YouTube channel The Only Bay. In the 677,000-view upload, Bay performed Led Zep’s “Whole Lotta Love” on the street at the 5th Avenue Fair in Brooklyn, New York, with a powerhouse four-piece band of young players. Bay really impressed in this performance with his incredibly confident stage presence, while the singer Mika Ciela did a powerhouse take on Robert Plant’s vocals.
