The America’s Got Talent crowd could not believe their eyes watching 9-year-old superstar Angelica Hale bring down the house with her heartwarming audition on Andra Day’s “Rise Up,” and 39 million viewers still aren’t over it! The young lass gave just the cutest opening interview, but when it came time to sing, she showed that she had the heart and soul of a natural-born diva. The audience just looked on in disbelief as the young girl gave one of the greatest AGT performances of all time.
However, the judges’ reaction left viewers shocked and disappointed. What more could you possibly ask for in an audition – touching story, big personality and THAT voice, and in such a young performer? The judges neglected to give her the golden buzzer, though, which many viewers watching at home criticised. The Music Man is pleased to report that Angelica proved that she was the real deal over the course of the season, becoming the youngest runner-up in the history of the show.
Angelica’s 39 million view audition became the 13th most-viewed audition of all time on America’s Got Talent. Viewers were amazed by the schoolgirl’s audition and added comments such as “I’m having a hard time comprehending how she didn’t get a golden buzzer? Honestly one of the most beautiful voices I’ve ever heard” and “When a 9-year-old girl is actually better than most ‘singers’ in the industry nowadays.”
Angelica’s second appearance on America’s Got Talent was even more popular than her debut. In her sophomore performance, her take on Alicia Keys’ “Girl on Fire” hit 48 million views. This time around, there was a slight shuffle in the judging lineup, with guest judge Chris Hardwick present. Chris evidently had a sharper ear for talent than the regular judges, as he gave Angelica a well-deserved golden buzzer!
Angelica Hale is a Filipino-American singer who was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on July 31, 2007. She is now 18 years old. Angelica almost didn’t make it through a bout of severe pneumonia when she was four and suffered multiple organ failures. Angelica’s mother, Eva, donated her kidney to her daughter in 2013, saving her life. It’s really quite incredible that the young talent has such a powerhouse voice, as she suffered permanent scarring on her right lung during her battle with pneumonia. Angelica auditioned on season 12 of America’s Got Talent. She eventually placed as runner-up, with Darci Lynne taking first. Angelica also placed as a finalist in America’s Got Talent: The Champions. She received Howie Mandel’s golden buzzer for her rendition of Rachel Platten’s “Fight Song” during her run on the show.
