Amanda Seyfried may be best known for her star role in 2004’s Mean Girls flick. But she’s also a stand-out singer! When she recently appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show for an interview following the release of her latest film, “Long Bright River,” Kelly convinced Amanda to sing an on-the-spot duet – one so spectacular that it led to Amanda collapsing in shock!
This clip is already going internet-viral, amassing more than 340,000 YouTube views within a mere month of hitting the site, and it’s got fans begging for the pair to hit the studio to record this duet for real. Music Man readers can watch Kelly and Amanda sing together in the video below…
It all begins with Amanda calling Kelly Clarkson’s debut album track, “Beautiful Disaster,” “the power ballad of the century,” revealing she prefers the live version over the studio recording, which Kelly surprisingly agrees with.
But then, Kelly turns Amanda’s fangirl dreams into reality, inviting the star to sing a spontaneous live duet of the song right there on the chat show sofa!
Kelly’s chat show band sets the scene; a glittering piano track playing out as Kelly decides to let Amanda sing the lead lines while she takes on the harmony.
Amanda almost freaks out after singing the ballad’s first lyric entirely alone, but when Kelly begins backing her from the second line on, the true magic quickly unfolds.
Together, their soft and crystalline voices craft the perfect harmony, serving femininity, grace, and elegance through every pitch-perfect line. Through the snippet silences between lyrics, the pair chat and encourage each other like true friends, making their duet even more wholesome.
Just as they finalize their last line in harmony, Amanda collapses on the sofa, smiling and utterly stunned at how well their impromptu duet went down.
And she wasn’t the only one left spellbound by the moment. Viewers flocked to the comments section to spread their love for both Kelly and Amanda’s spectacular voices. As one fan wrote, “Amanda has one of the most beautiful voices I’ve ever heard,” another top commenter noticed, “Kelly proving herself again that she is one of the best vocalists in the game. The way she matches and blended the harmony with Amanda’s voice and tempo and didn’t overpower her yet still shined through, is so so amazing.”
