From the second that they walked onto the Britain’s Got Talent stage, it was clear that 100 Voices of Gospel were going to deliver something special. Made up of members from all over the world and led by an unbelievably passionate and talented female leader, Jean, as they walked on, judge Alesha Dixon said to her fellow judges she had been waiting for a choir to come onto the show and blow her away with their audition – and that’s exactly what 100 Voices of Gospel were about to do.
After a few seconds of quiet as the choir prepared to perform, their lead vocalist Jean burst into an a cappella solo of the first verse of the gospel classic ‘This Little Light of Mine’. From then on, the energy in the room absolutely exploded, as the rest of the choir joined in and the rendition turned into a hugely uplifting, high-energy rendition of the tune complete with dancers!
The atmosphere in the room was clearly electric, with Alesha Dixon in particular looking as though she was having the time of her life as she watched the performance and danced along, her mouth even falling open in shock at one point as Jean unleashed some particularly powerful lead vocals. Few people were surprised, then, when Alesha reached over to the golden buzzer and slammed her hand down – leaving Simon Cowell fuming because he couldn’t get there first!
Whilst it is 100 Voices of Gospel’s initial audition that remains perhaps their most legendary performance on the show, they continued to deliver amazing performances in every round of Britain’s Got Talent. Their performance for the grand final was particularly spectacular, as you will see and hear for yourself if you watch the video below.
100 Voices of Gospel sadly did not take home the Britain’s Got Talent trophy – despite many viewers saying that they deserved to – but they have certainly left us with some awe-inspiring performances to watch again and again. I don’t know about you Music Man readers, but I regularly return to the video of their audition for the show, particularly when I am in need of a boost of feel-good, uplifting energy!
