Pulp’s Sends Glastonbury 2025 Wild With ‘90s Nostalgia Performing “Common People”

Glastonbury’s 2025 line-up spurred some conspiracy theories when names were revealed. Who on Earth were ‘Patchwork’, the mysterious band set to play the Pyramid Stage, third from last, on Saturday night? But when Pulp waltzed out on stage, filling the slot with ‘90s hit after ‘90s hit, they stunned Worthy Farm with their impeccable “Common People” performance, and it’s been driving Britpop fans wild with nostalgia.

This live rendition has already racked up over 318,000 views on YouTube in just a matter of days. Check it out in the video below!

For this recent revisit of their anthemic 1995 single, Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker (aged 61) unleashed his classic cheeky, oddball personality; completely natural and practically unchanged since Pulp’s heyday, and perhaps more vivid than ever, given the haughty, copycat state of contemporary headline shows.

But what really steals the show in this viral clip is the Glasto audience, their innumerable voices chanting Pulp’s lyrics like hymns and almost drowning out Jarvis’s own chorus.

“Common People” is one of those songs that’s been firmly lodged in the brains of the pop music public for 30+ years, and the Glasto 2025 crowd demonstrates the full, hypnotic effect. The single had hit #2 on the UK Singles Charts back in 1995, featuring on Pulp’s #1 album, “Different Class”.

Britpop fans who followed Pulp back in the day might be delighted to see 20-somethings rocking in the crowd, right alongside balding men in their mid-fifties — new Pulp fans who weren’t born when their records came out but are giving this iconic band their deserved longevity alongside the OGs of the fanbase.

Make sure you don’t miss the highlights: Jarvis smashing a bass drum to the breakdown riff, an arrow formation of smoke-tailed jets flying overhead, and Jarvis’ quick speech to the audience before the final chorus sends the crowd feral.

Pulp, or ‘Patchwork,’ packed eleven tunes into their hour-long Glastonbury set, including the prophetic opener, “Sorted for E’s & Wizz” (first line: “Oh is this the way they say the future’s meant to feel? Or just 20,000 people standing in a field?”, circa 1995), the unfathomably nostalgic “Disco 2000,” and early-era hits, “Do You Remember The First Time?” and “Babies.”

They also performed their new track, “Spike Island” – the lead single for their eighth studio album, “More,” which hit streaming services in June 2025.

This set marked the 30th anniversary of Pulp’s first Glastonbury headline appearance, back in 1995.

Pulp’s triumphant return to the Pyramid Stage was nothing short of spectacular, leaving audiences both in attendance and online buzzing with excitement and nostalgia.
