Who doesn’t love a Disney sing-along? Kristen Bell sure does, which is maybe why her viral history of Disney songs medley with Jimmy Fallon went so hard! We all know Bell has acting chops for days, but she’s also a helluva singer, which she showed off in the adorable and chaotic medley on The Tonight Show. The actress played Anna in Frozen, so of course she had to reprise her famous lines from the hit movies, but she also made time to sing nostalgic favorites from The Little Mermaid and The Lion King.
In addition to just being a good old sing along, the Disney medley was so entertaining to watch because you could tell Bell and Fallon really loved to be up there singing those iconic songs. There were cheeky moments like Fallon’s take on “Under the Sea,” but also more touching moments like Bell singing “Part of Your World.” The Music Man readers may recall that Bell broke into the industry singing musicals, and she def got to stretch that dramatic repertoire singing these hits.
Bell and Fallon’s Disney medley hijinks were a hit with viewers, who tuned in 16 million times on YouTube. Viewers added glowing comments, such as “Kristen can nail any Disney princess. Her voice is just so beautiful and versatile! She’s got charisma, talent, personality, she’s perfect!” and “I cried as an adult listening to this. This brought such a genuine smile and joy to my face. The kind that we last felt as kids. Thank you!”
The medley was a real treat for Bell fans, as there are actually surprisingly few videos of her singing live online. One of the few high-quality videos of her singing live is her performance of “Love is an Open Door” with her Frozen co-star Santino Fontana. The two have great chemistry onstage, and seeing them smile at each other as they sing those famous lines is a real joy to watch. Needless to say, the cheeky duet features amazing vocal performances as well.
Bell made her debut on Broadway playing Becky Thatcher in the 2001 production of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Since her commercial breakout in 2004 with her starring role in Veronica Mars, she has focused on her acting career more than singing for the most part. However, I’m sure The Music Man readers will know her most famous singing role, which was voicing Princess Anna in Disney’s Frozen and Frozen II in 2013 and 2019, respectively.
