Chris Martin is usually the center of attention wherever he goes, but when Coldplay rocked their banger “We Pray” in Dublin, all everyone could talk about was Elyanna’s voice! The Palestinian-Chilean star really took the limelight with her gorgeous vocals on the band’s 2024 hit. Martin kicked off the performance in Croke Park by singing the opening verse, before Burna Boy joined him to sing the uplifting chorus.
Next up it was Elyanna’s time to shine. There’s just something about Elyanna’s unique style and heavenly voice that made her verse pop. Elyanna sang her verse in Arabic, which, together with the diverse cast of performers, really highlighted the meaning behind the lyrics about unity and love for the human race. Coldplay have been kicking it for 28 years now, and I’m sure The Music Man readers can agree that this feel-good live cut of “We Pray” really shows why the band has enjoyed such longevity in the biz.
Coldplay uploaded the live version of “We Play” on September 22, 2024, and the video has since gained 9.2 million views. Viewers loved the performance, and added comments such as “This isn’t just a song. This is a hymn to peace. Thank you to Coldplay, Elyanna and all the wonderful artists involved. You all made the world a little better” and “What an angelic and powerful voice Elyanna has. Thank you Coldplay for showing me this amazing artist!”

Coldplay have really been treating their fans with lots of great live performances during the promo cycle for their latest album Moon Music. One of the group’s most popular performances from 2024 was their take on their classic hit “Fix You” at Glastonbury. Hearing the crowd sing the iconic lyrics back at Martin is real goosebumps territory, which is no doubt why it blew up to 15 million views.
Coldplay released “We Pray” on August 23, 2024, as the second single from their 10th studio album, Moon Music. The group also released versions that featured Arabic and Spanish lyrics, which featured Elyanna and Tini, respectively. The Music Man readers might be interested to hear that Martin said that the song was in his head after he woke up in the middle of the night in Taiwan. During the same interview with Audacy, he also commented on the meaning of the lyrics, saying it’s “about all of these conflicts and people that hate each other. We’re all praying for the same things, and we’d probably all get along if you just sat down long enough.”
