When young boogie woogie pianist Jonty Williams was busking in St Pancras International Station in autumn last year, it likely felt like just another ordinary day for him. As he sat playing a high-octane piano piece, passers-by occasionally stopped to listen or even film his performance for a while, before rushing off to where they needed to be.
Little did Jonty realize, however, that his day was about to become extraordinary. One of the members of the public watching his performance was none other than Dr. K – also known as Brendan Kavanagh – a legendary boogie woogie player who had been a massive inspiration to Jonty himself. Dressed casually in an all-black outfit, Dr. K looked impressed as Jonty played.
In fact, Dr. K was so impressed with Jonty’s playing that he could not resist coming over to the piano himself to join in! Jonty’s grin and look of concentration only intensify as he realizes who is playing alongside him, and the two end up producing a boogie woogie piano duet that some YouTube viewers have said is worthy of a huge audience in a highly prestigious venue.
But this isn’t the first time one of Jonty’s busking renditions in St Pancras station has caused a bit of a stir, Music Man readers.
