Benedetta Caretta is an Italian singer with beautiful vocal tone and delivery. Born on the 1st of July 1996 in Carmignano di Brenta, Veneto, Italy, Benedetta began singing when she was only three. By the age of five, she was already singing solos in the Gioventù in Cantata choir.
Celine Dion was an almost constant presence on the charts in the 1990s. She had a string of hits, and her exceptional voice won her fans all over the world. Her biggest hit has to be My Heart Will Go On, written for the blockbuster movie Titanic. It is so famous and loved that only an exceptional and very brave singer would even attempt to cover it. Benedetta is both of these things.
It seems she was born with a gift and passion for singing, and she wanted to share it with the world. She performed in concerts all over Italy as she was growing up.
When she was sixteen, she entered the singing competition Lo Canto but unfortunately did not win. Undeterred, she entered again the following year, and this time she was victorious. Her life was not all about music, though. She studied hard and excelled at school, winning a scholarship to attend the New York Film Academy.
In 2012 she appeared on Italy's version of The Voice and sang another Celine Dion song (which was a cover of the original by Jennifer Rush) The Power of Love. She got through and made it all the way to the semi finals. Her fame in her home country continued to spread but she wanted to get her music out into the world so she started a YouTube channel.
The channel now has 674,000 subscribers and her most popular video, Dance Monkey, has been watched 22 million times. Not all of Benedetta's music is here, though, she has released two albums, The first in 2021 was simply called Benedetta and her second the following year was called Drive. Her songs are available on Amazon and Spotify and average 55,000 listens per month.
Normally, a musican's personal life and private life are separate but that's not the case here. Benedetta has been dating Stjepan Hauser of 2Cellos fame. The pair came together to perform a duet as they admired each other's talent. The performance was very well received and they continued to make music together. Benedetta sometimes performs with Stjepan and sometimes with 2Cellos. Fans of both Benedetta and 2Cellos both seem to love these performances.
With so many exceptional songs under her belt it's hard to pick the best but My Heart Will Go On is definitely a front runner. She starts the song simply, singing the melody with no words and it's immediately obvious you're about to hear something special. Her voice is beautiful and superbly controlled. It also has a breathy quality which makes it sound quite like Celine Dion herself.
The video was recorded at a lake and the stunning scenery make this a once in a lifetime performance. YouTube certain agrees.
